The Subscription Prompt is the pop-up that appears on your website asking visitors to allow notifications. Setting this up correctly helps you get more subscribers.
Step 1 – Open Subscription Prompt Settings #
In your WordPress admin, go to PushPilot → Setup and click the Subscription Prompt tab.
Step 2 – Set Up Your Prompt Message #
On the left side under Prompt Message, make sure the toggle at the top is turned on. Then fill in the following:
- Headline — The main text visitors see on the prompt. Keep it short and clear. Example: “Never Miss an Update”. Maximum 50 characters.
- Benefit Line — A short supporting line that tells visitors what they will get. Example: “Instant alerts for new posts”. Maximum 60 characters.
- Allow Button Text — What the accept button says. Default is “Allow”.
- Deny Button Text — What the decline button says. Default is “No thanks”.
Step 3 – Display Triggers #
On the right side under Display Triggers, choose when the prompt appears:
- Time Delay — Shows the prompt after a set number of seconds on the page. Use the slider to set the delay.
- Scroll Depth — Shows the prompt after the visitor scrolls a certain percentage down the page.
- Manual Only — The prompt only appears when the visitor clicks the Bell Widget. Use this if you do not want the prompt to appear automatically.
Step 4 – Retry Logic #
Under Retry Logic, control how often the prompt reappears to visitors who did not subscribe:
- Retry After Dismiss — How many days to wait before showing the prompt again to someone who closed it. Recommended: 7-14 days. Minimum 3 days to avoid triggering browser-level blocks.
- Retry After No Action — How many days to wait for someone who closed the prompt without clicking Allow or Deny. Recommended: 3-7 days.
Step 5 – Save #
Click Save Prompt Settings at the top right of the page.
The subscription prompt is now active and will appear to visitors based on the settings you configured.
