Global Defaults are settings that apply to all notifications automatically. You set them once and they work in the background for every notification you send, unless you override them on a specific campaign.
Step 1 – Open Global Defaults #
In your WordPress admin, go to PushPilot → Setup and click the Global Defaults tab.
Step 2 – Set Your Default Icon #
Under Default Icon on the left, enter an image URL or click Upload to select an image from your media library.
This icon appears on all notifications that do not have their own icon set. If left empty, it falls back to your site icon automatically. Recommended size: 192×192px.
Step 3 – Image Optimization #
Under Image Optimization, turn on Auto-Optimize Images to automatically convert notification images to WebP format and compress them to 90% quality. This makes notifications load faster for your subscribers. This is turned off by default.
Step 4 – Success Feedback #
On the right side under Success Feedback, keep this toggle on to show a small confirmation toast after a visitor successfully subscribes. When disabled, the subscription happens silently in the background.
Step 5 – Welcome Notification #
Under Welcome Notification, turn on the toggle to automatically send a push notification to each new subscriber the moment they subscribe. Fill in the following:
- Title — The heading of the welcome notification. Example: “Welcome!”
- Message — The body text. Example: “Thanks for subscribing! You’ll receive updates.”
- URL — The page the subscriber is taken to when they click the notification. Defaults to your homepage if left empty.
Step 6 – UTM Parameters #
Under UTM Parameters, turn on Enable by Default to automatically append UTM tracking tags to all notification links. You can also set a custom Parameters Prefix — the default is utm_, which produces tags like utm_source, utm_medium, and utm_campaign. A live preview updates as you type.
Turn this on if you use Google Analytics or another analytics tool to track your website traffic.
Step 7 – Save #
Click Save Default Settings at the top right of the page. Click Reset to Defaults at any time to restore all original values.
